Ambrosia: About a Culture [LisaLynne's review]

I unwittingly found myself in Amsterdam during Gay Pride Week once, but somehow I missed The White Party with all those feathers and naked action obscuring my view...

Someone in Amsterdam is enjoying my copy of Ambrosia.
I have torn my luggage apart, but somehow my copy did not make the flight home with me. It's sort of fitting, really, because according to Ambrosia, Amsterdam has a thriving electronic music scene.

A novel about the confrontation of youth's crisp idealism with reality the reality that life is not so easily understood or tamed, and that, despite our best efforts, we are all inevitably subject to the slow slide into entropy. 

Aaron Rosclatt is lost. And this is strange, because life has always been sequential and linear for him. Or at least he thought it was; these days, he's not even so sure about that anymore. Is Aaron Rosclatt going crazy? Crazy does seem to run in the Rosclatt family. Maybe that's why the pieces in Aaron's life seem to be moving around so randomly without him, breaking up and resettling. There are few options left for Aaron other than to simply try to navigate through this storm of looming incoherency. He continues to push through university, his shallow relationships, his class battles with aristocratic roommates, soul-crushing call centre jobs, inadequacy, and all the disadvantages of a family background he never even thought were a problem before. 

About the Author
James Sandham was born in St. Catherines and grew up in Fonthill. He has a degree in Political Science from the University of Guelph. Since graduating in 2006 he has been living and writing in Toronto, with his beautiful wife, Desiree.

About the Author
James Cummins is a writer, journalist and composer of classical music. This is his fourth book and his second on the topic of Electronica he was also the co-author of the autobiography of House music inventor Jesse Saunders House Music . . . The Real Story. He has a BA in philosophy with a minor in political science from Concordia University and currently resides in Montreal. Originally from Alberta, James attended the Victoria School of Performing and Visual Arts in Edmonton. He has been attended raves and parties since 1999 and interviewed hundreds of musical figures in the research of this book.
