Yellow Blues [Holly's Review]

How do you teach the concept of "compromise" and "negotiation" to a child? Holly, from Reading For Beginners, gave Yellow Blues a try and read it to her 3 year old with time consuming results:

The art is very fun in Yellow Blues. It's perky, colourful, and eye-catching. As well, the message at the end of the story is valuable: exploring the difference between what one wants, and what one needs.

The language was a bit over his head - it takes away from the story to stop and explain what 'complement' and 'credit' mean to a 3 year old. I also feel it is definitely a gender-specific book...
